Reimbursement for imaging services could soon transform, but no one is sure to what degree it will change, and radiologists haven’t really had a voice in the conversation. CMS is studying bundled payments, or episodes-of-care payments, which will likely include most in-hospital imaging procedures.
The question for radiology is whether the industry can secure its fair share of reimbursement, and at least one expert said radiologists haven’t had a seat at the table in hospital discussions on bundling services.
