WellMed has launched a wireless system for consumers with Web-enabled and digital cell phones that provides alerts and reminders, retrieval of personal/family health information, a fax record, and a drug interaction checker. The new applications extend the functions of WellMed's Personal Health Manager product, which it provides to consumers directly and licenses to companies for benefits programs. The privately held firm plans to add features to its wireless offering, including hospital/emergency care locator capability through global positioning technology, blood pressure tracking, and personalized health news.
