"The healthcare industry is a key focus for Sprint and beneficiary of an integrated portfolio of wireless and wireline solutions designed to help healthcare providers deliver high-quality patient care while streamlining processes and controlling costs," said Jennifer Johnson, director of healthcare marketing, Sprint Business Solutions. "Sprint is pleased to team with palmOne to deliver flexible and dependable mobile solutions that will help healthcare providers achieve that objective."
Initially Sprint and palmOne will provide healthcare organizations with joint offers focused on mobilizing patient records and providing access to critical patient information. Using these mobile solutions, caregivers will be able to access, track and record patient information at the point of care. In addition, the solutions can streamline business processes by allowing the caregiver to easily submit patient data to the required health information and administrative systems, reducing the potential for medical or billing errors.
"We're excited to work with Sprint to bring powerful mobile solutions to the healthcare industry. The relationship helps palmOne further demonstrate its commitment to improving healthcare by providing caregivers with innovative, cutting-edge technologies," said Mike Lorion, vice president of vertical markets for palmOne, Inc. "palmOne delivers the tools that ultimately help improve patient care and patient safety."
The award-winning Treo 600 smartphone combines a full-color screen, Palm OS(R) 5.2.1 operating system, a backlit QWERTY keyboard with dome-shaped keys, a 144MHz ARM 9 processor, a VGA quality camera and a PCS Phone into a candy bar form factor. Operating on the enhanced Sprint Nationwide PCS Network, the Treo 600 smartphone enables wireless applications including email, messaging and Web browsing at speeds averaging 50 to 70 Kbps with PCS Vision plans.
