Siemens Medical Systems has beenawarded a contract by the U.S. Department of Defense to supply1-tesla Magnetom Impact MRI scanners to the U.S. Army Corps ofEngineers, the vendor said last month. The imaging systems willbe used in Army and Air Force medical facilities. The contractcould have a value of $50 million over the next five years.
The contract covers all 1-tesla MRI requirements for both theArmy and Air Force and includes provisions for the installationof scanners, modular and transportable buildings and mobile MRIfacilities. The contract includes both lease and purchase arrangements,according to Iselin, NJ-based SMS.
