The Sienet VA42 MagicStore system for diagnostic image storage is scheduled to begin shipping this fall. The latest version of Siemens PACS components is a DICOM 3.0-compliant enterprise storage solution based on open standards. Because MagicStore uses industry standard database technology and off-the-shelf hardware, customers will have the flexibility to purchase additional storage capacity on a just-in-time basis defined by evolving requirements and growth in data volume, as opposed to up-front purchases based on forecasted need, according to Siemens. The system can be scaled to meet a range of needs from a community hospital generating 50,000 imaging procedures a year or less to a multisite enterprise providing more than a million procedures a year.
