BURLINGTON, Vt., Feb. 21 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- IDX Systems Corporation will showcase solutions selected to support government mandated implementations of healthcare IT in the United Kingdom and United States at the 2004 HIMSS (Healthcare Information Management Systems Society) tradeshow Feb. 22-26 at the Orlando County Convention Center. The IDX booth is #4046.
IDX contracted in 2003 to provide its enterprise clinical software solution within certain regions of the United Kingdom as part of the National Health Service (NHS) National Programme for Information Technology, and its IDX Flowcast(TM) Combined Business Office (CBO) solution for the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) as part of the VHA's Patient Financial Services System Project.
"HIMSS provides IDX with an excellent venue to demonstrate why we were selected to play a pivotal role in these two very important healthcare IT initiatives," said James H. Crook, Jr. Chief Executive Officer of IDX. "Our proven solutions were selected following an extremely rigorous, reality-based procurement and government selection process."
The IDX enterprise clinical information solution was selected by the NHS to support an effort to dramatically improve integrated patient care in England. IDX technology is expected to benefit 20 million patients, or approximately 45 percent of the population of England.
IDX will also showcase its Flowcast CBO solution, selected as part of a project for the VHA Healthcare System of Ohio Veterans Integrated Service Network. The project includes optional plans for expansion throughout the VHA nationwide. The VHA operates 163 hospitals and 859 clinics in the United States.
Flowcast is a comprehensive revenue cycle solution, based on advanced, next generation technology that enhances the efficiency and effectiveness of the revenue cycle, improves productivity, reduces time to payment and better enables customers to underwrite their clinical missions.
Debuting at the show is the IDX Reality Center, an interactive demonstration in a mock hospital setting. The Reality Center tour follows a patient through the entire care cycle, offering an interactive, complete view of how IDX Carecast(R) and the IDX enterprise imaging solution, Imagecast(TM) support fail-safe care. The Reality Center also encompasses IDX solutions for automating the Operating Room and critical care environments, and demonstrates biometric security authentication -- which grants clinicians secure access to the Carecast system by scanning a thumbprint.
Imagecast is a fully integrated, single-database RIS/PACS solution currently entrusted to manage approximately 40 million exams annually.
IDX will also demonstrate Groupcast(TM), its web-based, practice management solution for small to mid-size physician groups. Groupcast improves financial and administrative performance and includes a robust HIPAA compliance solution that integrates financial system workflows with EDI workflows to create a closed-loop solution for revenue cycle management.
The new 6,600-square foot IDX booth includes 14 demo stations and represents the largest booth ever featured by the company at a tradeshow.
