Caprius of Wilmington, MA, has sealed an acquisition deal with Strax Breast Diagnostic Institute, a breast imaging center in Lauderhill, FL. Strax reported annual revenues of about $1.3 million for 1997 and received about 15,000 patients. The centers modalities include mammography, ultrasound, and stereotactic biopsy. Caprius paid $600,000 for Strax.
The deal represents the next step in Caprius plan to develop a network of breast imaging centers that include its Aurora dedicated breast MRI technology. Caprius also owns a breast imaging center at Faulkner Hospital in Boston and has joint-venture agreements with three U.S. hospitals.
