ALI Technologies continues to gain momentum in the ultrasound miniPACS market, posting a 99% increase in revenues for its third quarter (end-June).
For the period, ALI recorded revenues of (U.S.) $2.6 million, compared with $1.3 million for the same quarter in 1996. Net income was $398,000, compared with $20,000 in the third quarter of 1996. The Richmond, BC-based vendor also installed 12 more of its UltraPACS ultrasound digital image management systems in the third quarter, bringing its total installed base to 74 as of the end of June.
ALI credits rapid market growth in digital ultrasound image management, as well as increased customer awareness of ALI, for its strong financial results. The company has also benefited from increased opportunities to win lucrative orders to install UltraPACS in multihospital and regional network situations, such as the recent purchase by the Mayo Clinic (PNN 8/97), said Greg Peet, CEO.
While the company does not comment on the specific financial impact of its marketing partners, ALI believes that its OEM alliances are an important factor in its success.
"Specifically, the recent equity stake made by GE Medical Systems has been well received by ALI's existing and prospective clients, because ALI has been strengthened directly from a financial contribution and indirectly by stronger corporate sponsorship," Peet said.
