Siemens prepares to highlight syngo portals at SIIMAmicas focuses on patient and payer services
AccelaRAD will launch an upgrade to its Virtual Radiology Network this week at the Society of Imaging Informatics in Medicine meeting. The new features are aimed at increasing the flexibility, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness of the VRN, which connects offsite imaging service providers, teleradiology groups, and multisite imaging facilities with client sites.
The new PriorsAnytime module automatically retrieves previous patient images from any preconfigured third-party PACS. Retrieval occurs as a new patient exam appears onscreen, triggering a DICOM query/retrieve request to the relevant PACS. The module can be configured to search for prior exams by patient name, medical record number, birth date, gender, modality, or body part. It will then push those exams to the VRN work list for selection by the radiologist.
The Study Upload module enables instant, on-the-fly transmission of exams from any Internet-enabled PC to AccelaRAD VRN user sites. With a few mouse clicks, the new module -- with no onsite software -- allows a radiology service provider's clients and others with appropriate permission to upload diagnostic-quality DICOM exams to the VRN server for access by VRN users. All exams are communicated securely with full data integrity and integrated into the user's workflow for reading as appropriate.
Enhancements to Siemens' syngo Portal Radiologist will be featured at this week's Society of Imaging Informatics in Medicine conference in Charlotte, NC. The portal has been upgraded with tools that provide access in a single window to such patient information as new and previous imaging studies, previous reports, and lab values. The company has also updated its dictation tool, syngo Voice, and embedded syngo Workflow to include context-sensitive shortcuts. Siemens will also feature its recently introduced syngo Portal Executive, a web-based product designed to proactively manage administrative issues, providing such information as trends in exam volumes, patient wait times, and report turnaround times.
A suite of transactional services designed to speed billing and cut the cost of provider operations will debut at the Amicas booth June 7 to 10 at the Radiology Business Management Association's Annual Radiology Summit in Orlando. With the goal of cutting claim denials and increasing collections, the company's Payer Services provides management services to help determine insurance eligibility and claims, as well as coding compliance. Its Patient Services enhances bill collection by supporting print and mail services for communicating with patients, providing online statements to patients, automating return mail services, and offering an online payment portal.
